DTEK Donetsk Grids urges Ministry of Justice to unblock company’s accounts so that it could restore electricity to residents of the Donetsk region

In the conditions of a brutal war with russia and despite everyday shelling, DTEK energy workers have restored electricity to almost 3 mln homes of Ukrainians since the beginning of a full-scale invasion. 1.9 mln of these homes are in the Donetsk region.

On 29 June 2022, accounts of the DSO DTEK Donetsk Grids have been arrested, thus blocking its normal operation. This happened on the initiative of the State Executive Service of the Ministry of Justice of Ukraine due to the indebtedness to SE “Energorynok” in 2014-2016. It was formed due to russia’s attack in 2014 and it has not been regulated by the government in 8 years.

Due to blocking of the accounts by the Ministry of Justice, DTEK Donetsk Grids will be unable to repair the grids after shelling and purchase critical materials.

DTEK urges State Executive Service and Ministry of Justice of Ukraine to unblock company’s accounts and to base its decisions primarily on the interest of residents of the Donetsk region, who require electricity.
