DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids and “Shakhtar Social” CF opened second football playground “Go, play!” in the Kyiv region
From now on, young footballers of the Irpin community will be able to learn playing the game free of charge under supervision of coaches from “Shakhtar” football academy. This is the second football playground in the Kyiv region within the framework of the “Go, play!” project.
“In 2024, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids and “Shakhtar Social” Charitable Foundation opened a playground in Bilohorodka — and its team became a champion of the “Go, play!” tournament held among 10 children’s teams from all over Ukraine. Therefore, I am sure: we will soon here about new champions from Irpin as well. Sport is a school of life, and football teaches friendship, team play and support. I am happy to be part of the project that provides children with an opportunity to improve and feel joy from every training. Let every goal become a large step into the future for these kids, their start on the path to the champions league,” — noted Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
The very first training took place on the day of playground opening. A famous football player of FC “Shakhtar” Andrii Vorobei attended it. Young players also received souvenirs and autographs of the football club’s star.
“Over 60 children came to the first training session today — and this is the best confirmation of their love of football and the importance of this project for every child, family, and community in general. We are happy that we were able to give children these emotions and an opportunity to do what they love most. Together with DTEK, we genuinely believe that it is on these playgrounds that the path of future football stars begins,” — noted “Shakhtar Social” Charitable Foundation director Andrii Babeshko.
For over six years, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids and Shakhtar Social foundation have been supporting the “Go, play!” project and encouraging children of 7-12 years to live a healthy lifestyle and play football. The purpose of the project is to popularize healthy lifestyle and support children’s emotional wellbeing through sport. The project was launched in 2018 and engaged more than 10,000 children over this time. More than 1,400 children in 27 Ukrainian settlements are currently taking part in the project.
