DTEK brings back light: energy workers in Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk, Odesa and Kyiv regions restored power supply to almost 300,000 families
On March 22 and 24, russia once again resorted to large-scale attacks on the energy infrastructure of Ukraine, damaging electricity generation, transmission and distribution facilities, thus, causing the need to limit power consumption. In order to stabilize the situation, in accordance with NPC Ukrenergo order, emergency power shutdowns were introduced in a number of regions, Donetsk, Dnipropetrovsk and Odesa regions in particular.
“At the end of the heating season, the enemy carried out yet another terrorist strike on the Ukrainian energy system, scale and consequences of which are close to October 2022, sometimes even exceeding it. In order to eliminate its consequences, energy workers from all over the country are working 24/7 to carry out emergency and restoration activities. Our common goal is to provide electricity to every home,” – noted Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO at DTEK Grids.
Energy infrastructure of the Odesa region was twice subjected to large-scale strikes. Last week, DTEK Odesa Grids specialists managed to restore electricity to more than 46,000 families. However, the situation remains difficult – emergency power shutdowns are applied in Odesa to stabilize it.
Kryvyi Rih energy center suffered the greatest destruction in the Dnipropetrovsk region. Nevertheless, thanks to the coordinated work of all energy workers of the region, electricity has been restored to almost 180,000 families in 253 settlements.
On March 21 and 24, fragments of missiles damaged the grids in the Kyiv region. Energy workers immediately commenced repairs once the situation permitted. Thus, during these two days DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists have restored electricity to more than 3,000 local residents.
In the Donetsk region, missile strikes added to the constant hostilities last week, thus increasing number of grids and energy equipment damages in the region. From March 18 to 24, energy workers managed to restore power supply to almost 50,000 homes in 32 settlements.
DTEK Grids energy workers are doing everything possible to restore electricity to home of every Ukrainian. They commence work immediately after obtaining permission and access to the site of damage from the AFU and SES.
