DTEK restores electricity: over the course of the week power was restored to almost 500,000 families of Ukrainians
Hostilities in the Donetsk region lead to more and more damage to the grids, substations and power outages in the homes of region’s residents. DTEK together with all other services is doing everything possible to restore electricity to region’s residents. About 20 DTEK crews are working every day to ensure stable power supply.
Over the course of a week (June 6 through 12), DTEK energy workers have restored electricity to 439,937 families in 263 settlements of the Donetsk region despite everyday shelling in the region. In some settlements, energy workers have to repair the grids and restore electricity to the residents every day due to the regular shelling.
In particular, enemy shelling on June 11 has damaged equipment of NPC Ukrenergo, leading to de-energization of more than 300,000 residents of Kramatorsk and Bakhmut districts in the north of the Donetsk region. DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists together with NPC Ukrenergo managed to energize the north of the Donetsk region via the temporary power supply circuit for the time of the main line repair by the NPC Ukrenergo energy workers.
We ask residents to treat possible power supply issues with understanding. Unfortunately, shelling of territories continues, causing damage to the grids’ infrastructure and shutdown of energy enterprises.
Additionally, enemy shelling has once again damaged the grids in the Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. DTEK emergency crews have restored electricity to almost 600 families in 4 settlements of the region last week.
Emergency crews of energy workers are working non-stop for 109 days in a row to promptly restore power to settlements, affected by hostilities.
On May 18, energy workers have completed restoration of power supply to the residents of the districts in the Kyiv region that suffered from occupation. In general, preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region as soon as possible. Second stage of the grids restoration is ahead. A large scope of work is related to restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities. In perspective of 2022-2023, it requires additional investments in the amount of UAH 600-700 mln. The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
DTEK electricians together with doctors, volunteers, suppliers of essential food and medicine are doing everything within their power to support Ukraine and Ukrainians in these difficult circumstances.
