E.DSO has approved DTEK Grids’ Concept of Grids Development
On October 26, E.DSO member companies supported DTEK Grids’ Concept of Grids Development and confirmed that it fully complies with European standards for grids development.
“E.DSO Members collectively acknowledge that the foundations and principles of the Grid development concept drafted by DTEK Grids are compliant with European Union practices of the sector. These principles resonate with the objective of the Clean Energy for All Europeans Package, and as such is tailored to promote and facilitate the energy transition of Ukraine,” – states the letter of support of the E.DSO members.
The Grid Development Concept envisages gradual upgrade of the distribution grids infrastructure in Kyiv, Odesa and Dnipropetrovsk regions, as well as in the City of Kyiv using latest technologies according to the best practices of the European Distribution System Operators. The project is designed for 10 years and starts with the three-year pilot in Bucha district, which suffered significant damage during Russian occupation.
“DTEK Grids creates a power grids infrastructure in Ukraine of a qualitatively different level. It is required for reliable and safe electricity supply to the customers and for development of business. Modern “smart” grids will be built with consideration of the best European practices, and this is precisely why we actively cooperate with the Association of European Distribution Systems Operators (E.DSO). An upgraded grids infrastructure will create conditions for development of large capacities of green generation and distributed generation, residential PV in particular. Smart Grids is foundation for building a new Ukrainian energy system, energy independence of Ukraine and Europe. I am grateful to E.DSO members for support and I am sure that together we will succeed in building a better future in Ukraine,” – emphasized Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Grids.
As a result of Concept implementation, average time of power outages per year will be reduced from 1,500 to 100 minutes (SAIDI), while technological losses will decrease by 3 times – from 14% to 5%, all customers will get smart meters that will contribute to lean consumption and minimization of costs.
Development of the concept involved an expertise of leading energy industry companies , which are members of the Association of Distribution Systems Operators E.DSO.
