Over the past year, DTEK Grids Distribution System Operators repaired and reconstructed 14,100 km of power lines and more than 6,000 power facilities, which is 80% more than in 2023. Thus, they managed to improve reliability of the energy infrastructure in Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk and Donetsk regions and in the capital during the period of constant enemy attacks and challenges of the heating season.

Power facilities and power lines require constant maintenance. The grids are especially wearing out due to the overload that happens during application of shutdown schedules. In order to prevent possible emergencies and create additional assets for electricity consumption, energy workers of DTEK Grids DSO repaired 13,800 km of power lines of various voltage class and 5,800 high-voltage substations, distribution and transformer points. They also cleared almost 10,000 km of routes under the power lines from shrubs in order to prevent breaking of wires due to bad weather.

Last year, within the framework of the investment program, DTEK Grids DSO upgraded more than 350 km of power lines and reinforced over 350 substations, transformer and distribution points. Thus, they managed to improve quality and reliability of power supply for more than 450,000 families in Odesa, Kyiv, Dnipropetrovsk regions and in the capital. Additionally, energy workers installed more than 213,000 smart meters in the customers’ homes. Such appliances automatically submit readings and allow saving 50% on electricity consumption at night due to the separate metering of electricity during the day and night hours. The meters are installed in the districts, included in the automation program.

Energy workers in the Donetsk region are working in the most difficult conditions of hostilities. Nearly all activities in the region are repairs of grids, damaged by enemy attacks. Upon obtaining permission from the military, DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists carry out repairs of power equipment, wherever possible, in order to provide local residents with electricity.

Modern grids are the foundation for sustainable energy system and uninterrupted power supply. Therefore, even in the wartime conditions, DTEK Grids DSO continue to upgrade and reconstruct old power facilities and build new ones. All thisto make power supply as reliable as possible. In 2024, DTEK Grids DSO invested more than UAH 4.5 bln within the framework of repair and investment programs, noted Alina Bondarenko, CEO at DTEK Grids

Energy workers are doing everything possible to support normal life of Ukrainians even in the conditions of constant attacks.
