Despite the challenges of war: DTEK invested almost a billion hryvnas in the upgrade of the energy infrastructure in the Kyiv region in 2024

Power facilities and power lines require constant maintenance. The grids are especially wearing out due to the overload that happens during application of shutdown schedules. In order to prevent possible emergencies and create additional assets for electricity consumption, energy workers of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids repaired 9,505 km of power lines of various voltage class and 1,618 high-voltage substations, distribution and transformer points. They also cleared 4,318 km of routes under the power lines from shrubs in order to prevent breaking of wires due to bad weather.
Last year, within the framework of the investment program, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids upgraded and built almost 20 km of power lines and reinforced 78 substations, transformer and distribution points. Thus, they managed to improve quality and reliability of power supply to 66,749 families in the Kyiv region. Additionally, energy workers installed more than 44,600 smart meters in the customers’ homes. Such appliances allow to save 50% on electricity consumption at night due to the separate metering of electricity during the day and night hours. The meters are installed in the districts, included in the automation program.
At the same time, power facilities in the Kyiv region suffer damage due to constant shelling. Nevertheless, energy workers make every effort to ensure stable power supply. The specialists are continuously working on restoration of damaged grids, promptly performing repairs even in the most difficult conditions to ensure that every resident of the region has electricity at home.
“Modern grids are the foundation for sustainable energy system and uninterrupted power supply. Therefore, even in the wartime conditions, the company continues to upgrade and reconstruct old power facilities and build new ones. All this – to make power supply as reliable as possible. In 2024, the company invested more than UAH 978 mln within the framework of repair and investment programs,” – noted Vitalii Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
Energy workers are doing everything possible to support normal life of Ukrainians even in the conditions of constant attacks.
