Brave to bring the light: more than 50 energy workers of DTEK Dnipro Grids were awarded on the occasion of a professional holiday

For their work in dangerous conditions of war and bravery to bring the light to Ukrainians, DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers were honored with state and industry awards on the occasion of a professional holiday – Energy Worker Day.

Since the beginning of war in Ukraine, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists have been working in extreme conditions for the sake of light and electricity, which has acquired a special meaning. It helps residents of the region work, study, be in touch with family and loved ones, it helps doctors save lives, it helps business work and support Ukrainian economy. 

For their bravery to bring light and commitment to the profession, 52 employees of the company were awarded with honors, certificates and citations from the President of Ukraine, Verkhovna Rada, Cabinet of Ministers, Ministry of Energy and local authorities. 

“It does not matter how many missiles and drones they have; it does not matter how their attacks affected the energy system. The key is people, and thanks to your work the enemy will never defeat our energy front. We will rebuild everything and we will hold our line of defense, as we have the most valuable – our energy workers,” – emphasized the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko

  • By Presidential Decree, an honorary title "Honored Energy Worker of Ukraine" was awarded to two lead engineers of the distribution grids repair and operation center – Stromenko Oleksandr Vasylovych and Trofymov Fedir Kyrylovych;
  • 40 specialists were awarded with medals, citations and certificates of honor from Verkhovna Rada, Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and Ministry of Energy of Ukraine;
  • Another ten employees of the company were presented with certificates of honor from the Dnipro City Council and commemorative medals “For Merit to the City”. Energy workers received honors from the Mayor Borys Filatov during the 45th session of the City Council;

“Energy workers play an important role in ensuring national security and independence of the country. Over the course of two years, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists have restored electricity after shelling to homes of almost 1.2 mln families (some houses had electricity restored to them on several occasions). They, just like the military at the frontline, constantly face challenges and risks. And every one of them works for recovery and development of the country. Every energy worker is the pride of the company and the hope of Ukrainians,” – noted CEO of the company Andrii Tereshchuk. 

DTEK Dnipro Grids is a foundation and support for normal life of the country and residents of the region, especially now – during the war. 

Let us remind that in May 2023, the Minister of Defense Oleksii Reznikov presented state awards to the energy workers of DTEK Dnipro Grids. Medals “For Assistance to the Armed Forces of Ukraine” and “Badges of honor” were awarded to 7 employees of the company. In early September, two more employees of the company were honored with state awards of the Cabinet of Ministers. And on September 21, during his visit to the Dnipropetrovsk region the Minister of Energy of Ukraine Herman Halushchenko presented certificates of honor and badges to four employees of the company that took part in restoration of the grids after enemy shelling.
