DTEK to invest nearly UAH 190 million into the energy infrastructure development of areas around Kyiv in 2020
Boryspil, Obukhiv, Brovary, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and Irpin Districts of Kyiv Region are the areas of special concern. These areas around Kyiv with a population of almost 500,000 are growing rapidly. The number of new connections to the networks of DTEK Kyiv Region Grids, meaning when clients want to connect new buildings or increase existing capacities, confirms this. There are almost ten times more of such connections than in other areas of the region. Since the beginning of the year, 6063 new connections to the networks have been done in these regions. For comparison, 615 new customers were connected to the networks during the same period in Bila Tserkva, Yahotyn, Rokytnia, Baryshiv and Myroniv Districts.
“Boryspil, Obukhiv, Brovary, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and IrpinDistricts accounted for more than 65% -70% of all emergency outages in the region. This made it difficult and even impossible to connect to the networks of new facilities that are under construction in these areas. DTEK cares about its customers; therefore, we take a comprehensive approach to solving the issue of reliable power supply. Last year, we invested over UAH 100 million in measures to improve the electrical infrastructure of the districts around Kyiv. This year this figure was increased to almost UAH 190 million,” says Vitalii Shaida, DTEK Kyiv Region Grids Director General.
According to the head of the company, the company has already invested UAH 65 million to upgrade the energy infrastructure in Boryspil, Obukhiv, Brovary, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and Irpin Districts since the beginning of 2020. The investments were aimed at restoring almost 800 km of overhead power transmission lines, clearing 400 km of routes from tree branches, which often cause emergency outages. In addition, power engineers replaced equipment at 400 transformer substations out of 3086 existing ones, and reconstructed 56 km of power lines having installed 26 unloading transformer substations.
Until the end of the year, the company plans to:
- Upgrade more than 200 km of power transmission line;
- Replace equipment at 108 transformer substations;
- Clear 200 km of overhead lines from branches of trees that pose danger;
- Reconstruct 25 km of power transmission lines;
- Install 35 unloading transformer substations;
- Start of reconstruction of 110/35/10 kV substation "Hostomel" (Kyiv-Sviatoshyn District);
- Construct 110/35/10 kV substation "Kozin" (Obukhiv District);
- All these measures will ensure that the residents of Boryspil, Obukhiv, Brovary, Kyiv-Sviatoshyn and Irpin Districts have high quality and uninterrupted power supply.
As it was reported earlier, following the general meeting of the company shareholders, Kiyvoblenergo, CJSC was renamed to DTEK Kyiv Region Grids, CJSC. The renaming of the company is part of DTEK's plan to transform Kyvoblenergo into a modern service company.
