DTEK Donetsk Grids to improve power supply to 100,000 households in Mariupol
“Our city is developing, and thus the load on the energy system is increasing,” says Mikhail Kogut, Deputy Mayor. “This is the reason for the power supply of a poor-quality. The old networks cannot withstand such increase in load. Moreover, military actions are ongoing not that far away, which is a challenge as well. Therefore, it was important for us, together with representatives of DTEK, to routinely improve the power supply reliability in Mariupol. Following the meeting, I can say that DTEK hears and understands us, and they are willing to consider our feedback. We are already seeing systemic changes that the company is implementing so that the residents of our city receive more reliable power supply."
So, as part of investment program in 2021, DTEK Donetsk Grids upgraded two high-voltage substations, installed 8 new complete transformer substations, reconstructed one distribution center, and 3 overhead power transmission lines in Mariupol.
“DTEK Donetsk Grids is a reliable company. We hear the needs of our customers. We know about the problems they face. We put our efforts every day to make the power supply more reliable. After all, power grids are a crucial piece of infrastructure needed for the development of both the city and the region,” says Oleksii Degtyarev, Head of DTEK Donetsk Grids. “As part of our 2022 investment program, we plan to reconstruct 15 lines (which is five times more than last year) with a total length of 34.7 km in all districts of the city. We will install 5 new complete transformer substations, 6 closed transformer substations and 1 distribution center. This will improve power supply for over 100,000 households in Mariupol. And we will keep improving the power supply reliability in the city."
In particular, people living in Metallurgov Avenue will have better power supply quality after the company replaces 1 distribution center in the Central District. New 6 closed transformer substations will ensure improved power supply in Vostochny microdistrict, Metallurgov ave, Stroiteley ave, st. Kuprin, 1st Slobodka. And 5 new complete transformer substations will increase the reliability of power supply for residents of the Ukraina village, as well as Zelena, Markelova, Ogorodnaya, Gotfeyskaya streets.
Moreover, it is planned to repair 16 transformer substations and 4 distribution centers in 2022. 11 transformer substations and 1 distribution center were reconstructed. 6 overhead and 16 cable lines with a total length of 13.7 km and 31.2 km, respectively, were repaired and modernized.
