200 days of fighting on the energy front: DTEK Donetsk Grids has restored power to almost 3 mln families
Hostilities in the Donetsk region have been ongoing for 8 years now. During that time, DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists had to learn to work in the immediate vicinity of the war zone. These skills came in handy with the beginning of a full-scale invasion, when energy workers required the skills to work during shelling and promptly restore electricity to customers despite danger.
Despite hostilities, specialists of the energy company continue to perform repairs once it becomes possible and the military permit. Since the beginning of a full-scale invasion, energy workers have already restored power to 2.7 mln families in the Donetsk region. Due to massive shelling, some settlements require restoration of electricity on dozens occasions.
Last week alone, DTEK Donetsk Grids emergency and repair crews have restored power to more than 31,000 families in 75 settlements. Including yesterday, when it was restored to 11,100 families in 15 settlements of the region. Besides, yesterday shelling caused shutdown of equipment that does not belong to the company, resulting in de-energization of the entire Donetsk region. DTEK Donetsk Grids specialists were able to promptly reconnect residents of the region and restore power to their homes.
The situation remains extremely difficult in the Donetsk region. Massive shelling, missile strikes and air assaults are underway, continuing to destroy electrical infrastructure of the region. Yesterday alone, there were 5 missile strikes on Kramatorsk. According to the National Police, 14 settlements of the region were under massive shelling.
The most difficult directions remain Avdiivka, Marinka, Toretsk, Bakhmut and Sloviansk. 88 settlements of the region remain without electricity. Energy workers will definitely restore electricity to all residents of the region once they obtain a permit for work performance from the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
