Andrii Tereshchuk: We will try to carry out most of the maintenances without turning off the power

DTEK Dnipro Grids is expanding the project to carry out hotline maintenances using European technology, meaning without turning the power off to customers. Andrii Tereshchuk, CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids, announced this during an online meeting within the framework of the #SpitayProSvitlo (AskAboutTheLight) project. Now such technologies are used in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, Pavlograd, Nikopol, Novomoskovsk. The company is planning to extend to the entire region.

On April 6, the CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids held the first live Facebook broadcast of the #SpitayProSvitlo online meeting, in which experts in the energy industry answer questions asked by residents. During the meeting, Andrii Tereshchuk, among other things, explained why power engineers routinely turn off the light and how to make such outages as few as possible.

DTEK strives to become the benchmark for customer focused business and implements high-level service standards. It is needed to do the renovation and modernization of power grids and power facilities all the time. The quality and continuity of power supply depends on this. In order not to cause inconveniences and to be as invisible as possible for customers, we already carry out about 25-35% of repairs without disconnecting the electricity per the European technology. We were the first to introduce such technique in Ukraine. Of course, such works as line reconstruction, replacement of transformers require us to disconnect the line. But we try to carry out as many maintenances as possible without de-energizing. Last year, more than 16,000 works were completed, during which we did not turn off the electricity,” says Andrii Tereshchuk.

According to the CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids, in 2021 the company plans to carry out work not only at facilities with a voltage of 0.4 kV, but also on high-voltage lines of 6-20 kV. For these purposes, they have already planned to earmark about UAH 19 million in purchasing special tools, machinery, protective means, and equipment. As well as equipping a special training ground for energy workers.

During the live stream, Andrii Tereshchuk also answered questions from residents of the region regarding the operation of electronic displays and the installation of day/night meters, power problems and tariffication of energy services. Full video recording of #SpitayProSvitlo can be viewed here.
