Audit confirmed the compliance of the DTEK Dnipro Grids occupational health and safety and environmental management systems with ISO international standards

DTEK Dnipro Grids places special emphasis to occupational and environmental safety of business. The company has successfully passed an audit and received ISO 45001:2018 and ISO 14001:2015 certificates. Auditors of the German company TÜV SÜD confirmed the compliance with international standards.

TÜV SÜD is a European company that is one of the most reputable international certification bodies in the world with over 150 years of experience. As part of the audit, the auditors visited the DTEK Dnipro Grids structural divisions and inspected their work. They visited the Krivyy Rih Power Distribution Authority, checked the Solonyansky District of the Nikopol Joint Power Distribution Authority, and the Petropavlovsky and Mezhevskaya Districts of Pavlogradsky Joint Power Distribution Authority.

“DTEK is transforming the business in accordance with the New Strategy 2030, which is based on ESG principles, values and business responsibility for progress in achieving the sustainable development goals of the UN Global Compact. Eight years ago, our company standardized the systems per international standards ISO 14001 and OHSAS 18001. * And in 2019, we were one of the first in Ukraine to switch to the new ISO 45001:2018 standard: Occupational health and safety management systems. This year, they successfully passed an assessment for compliance with all requirements again and confirmed the status of a company with a high level of environmental awareness and safety,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids.

During the audit, the auditors highly appreciated the following activities:

  • Award-winning projects for the biodiversity conservation. The company received "ECОtransformation-2020", which is the highest environmental award in Ukraine;
  • A well-established system of the waste sorting, recycling and reuse, as well as selling a significant amount of resource-valuable waste;
  • Participation in landscaping programs, thanks to which 400 trees were planted in the settlements across Dnipropetrovsk Region;
  • The system for assessing the driving style "Eco Driving";
  • Occupational safety rating, as one of the steps to involve personnel in occupational safety issues and motivate employees not to violate the rules and not to ignore violations of colleagues;

As previously reported, DTEK Grids won an award for its environmental policy, which the company consistently implements within its activities. The company has been publicly recognized as a business that cares of biodiversity conservation. At the annual ECOtransformation-2020 event, DTEK received an award for its project to protect storks from electric shock.
