More than 50,000 customers of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids had power outages this year because of builders and utilities damaging the lines

Construction companies and public utilities in Kyiv Region often ignore the procedure for coordinating activities near cable power lines. Such unauthorized actions have led to 117 outages of the 0.4-10 kV distribution network since the beginning of this year alone. As a result, the stability of energy supply to the population and enterprises of Kyiv Region is compromised, and the distribution system operator incurs material losses.

DTEK is a conscious, reliable company that works 24/7. Unfortunately, network damage due to unauthorized work happens very often. One of such cases is the damage to the 10 kV cable line on June 1 in Irpin. Due to the actions of the developer, 1,726 customers lost their power. Within 2 hours, our energy workers resumed power supply for most of the houses. It took another 9 hours to fully restore the power supply to the microdistrict,” says Vitaliy Shaida, CEO at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids underlines that if there is a need to do earth work, an application must be sent to local authorities, including a brief description and a graphical diagram of the work, etc. After that, the job permit shall be coordinated with the operators of electrical and gas networks, as well as with the water utility.

In particular, to coordinate the earth work or work near overhead power lines with DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids, it is required to contact one of the company's customer service centers, which are located throughout Kyiv Region.
