Big Network Renovation: two powerful substations and a high-voltage line will be reconstructed in the Donetsk region by the end of the year

By the end of the year, DTEK Donetsk Grids plans to complete the reconstruction of the 110 kV Krasnoarmeyskaya and Dimitrovo substations and the 110 kV Kotlyarevskaya high-voltage line. When commissioned, 52,000 residents and infrastructure facilities of the region will receive more reliable power supply. It became possible to complete the reconstruction and technical re-equipment thanks to the incentive investment RAB-tariff introduced early in 2021. So, the company is now in the position to increase its investment program in 2021 by 72% compared to 2020. These funds are used to modernize and develop the energy infrastructure of the region in accordance with the needs of its residents.

The Kotlyarevskaya 110 kV high-voltage line is the main power source for mines, the Avdeevsky coke-chemical plant, substations of the Donetsk railway, as well as household and communal consumers in Avdeevka, Selidovo and nearby settlements. Reconstruction of the line will improve the reliability of power supply for 11,000 customers.

The Krasnoarmeyskaya 110 kV substation is in the central part of Pokrovsk and is an important power supply hub. It transits significant capacity on the Kurakhovskaya TPP - Krasnoarmeysk-330 kV substation. Thanks to the reconstruction, more reliable power supply will be provided to large industrial facilities - the dinas plant, Ukrzaliznytsia subdivisions, as well as 17,000 customers of the central part of the city.

Reconstruction of the 110 kV Dimitrovo substation will enhance the reliability of power supply for 12,000 household and industrial customers in the Mirnograd and Pokrovsky district.

During the reconstruction, depending on the substation, transformers, switchgears, switches, relay protection will be replaced, the buildings and territories will be put in order. Instead of the old equipment, which will be dismantled, they will install new ones that meet modern requirements for power equipment of this class of power facilities. In total, DTEK Donetsk Grids have invested over UAH 69 million in these projects.

In addition, the company is reconstructing two 10 kV lines and a 6 kV line for the Kramatorsk and Mariupol districts. Reconstruction of these lines is urgently needed as they are out of service life. Now, the reconstruction of lines and substations is ongoing.

The work is done under the Big Network Renovation project, the purpose of which is to modernize the grids and electrical equipment of the Donetsk region considering the needs of its residents.

The company could increase the amount of funds to invest into construction projects or the complete replacement of electrical equipment because of the investment stimulating RAB tariff. In 2021, the Company will invest UAH 332 million in the development of network infrastructure. This is 72% more compared to 2020.
