Big Network Renovation: more than 100 km of power lines supplying residential buildings to be upgraded in Dnipro and the region
Now, reconstruction is being ongoing in Dnipro, Kryvyi Rih, and Nikopol. As well as in the Pavlogradsky, Kamensky, Kryvyi Rih, Novomoskovsky and Dniprovsky districts. The company upgrades the overhead lines having installed unloading transformer substations and reduced the length of the lines. This will make them more reliable and ensure voltage stability. It will also provide developing residential areas with backup power.
“DTEK is a conscious and reliable company that serves the Ukraine’s interests. This year, we will earmark an unprecedented amount of UAH 95 million for the reconstruction of low-voltage networks in the Dnipropetrovsk region. We could do this thanks to the investment incentive RAB tariff, introduced in 2021. Thus, we will replace the lines which were built in the 30-50s of the last century. Therefore, there will be fewer failures and outages will last less,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, General Director of DTEK Dnipro Grids.
In addition to 0.4 kV networks, medium and high voltage lines of 6-10, 35 and 150 kV are being reconstructed. In total, in 2021, DTEK Dnipro Grids plans to completely replace more than 249 kilometers of power lines and re-equip outdated equipment at 1,200 distribution points and transformer substations. During the reconstruction, energy workers fully replace electrical wires with more reliable and modern ones. And, where needed, they replace electrical poles.
It should be reminded that under the ‘Big Network Renovation’ project, the company is modernizing the energy infrastructure of the region considering the needs of its residents. In particular, work is currently underway to reconstruct two powerful 150 kV substations: Grushevskaya in Manganets and KL in Dnipro. When commissioned, more than 35,000 residents, as well as large industrial enterprises of the region, will receive more reliable power supply.
In total, this year the company is investing more than UAH 1 billion in the development of networks. This is 34% more than in 2020.
