How to avoid deception: DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids explains how to detect a real specialist and avoid fraudsters

Recently, there have been cases of frauds in Kyiv Region, when people, mainly elderly people, are visited by persons who introduce themselves as service company workers. There were instances when fraudsters presented themselves as employees of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids. They say that they need to take meter readings, offer to sell day/night meters, and so on.

DTEK is a reliable and conscious company that cares about its customers and strives to become the standard of customer focus. Therefore, to prevent such cases and to protect customers, we would like to remind you that our energy workers always have a corporate ID card with them. It contains the company logo, serial number, full name, photograph of the employee, his position, seal and validity period of the ID. If there is no such ID, then the customer has every reason not to let such a person into his home. At the same time, there are only two categories of workers who can visit our customers:

• Meter readers are employees who take customer meter readings at regular intervals. These workers are not required to wear DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids workwear. But they must have a corporate ID card. It contains company logo, number, full name, employee's photo, position, stamp, and validity period. When everything is okay with the documents, the customer, in accordance with the law, is obliged to provide the meter reader with access to the meter;
• Electricians who are engaged in connection (disconnection), replacement of meters and the other services related to the maintenance of company equipment or metering devices. Such specialists must wear overalls (a jacket) with the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids logo. They must also have a corporate ID card with them. If there is no such corporate ID card, then a customer has every reason not to let this person into his house;

If the visitors aroused your suspicions and could not confirm that they are the workers of the energy company, we advise you to contact the police.

As previously reported, during the year in quarantine, our energy workers addressed almost 24,000 failures, checked the power supply of 389 health care facilities and 67 educational institutions across Kyiv Region.
