Grid capacity deficit in Obukhiv and Obukhiv District: how Kyivoblenergo handle electricity quality issue
Nowadays, the power of electric installation of consumers in Obukhiv and Obukhiv District being fed by Kyivoblenergo’s Obukhiv 110 kV substation exceeds the admissible load on the substation three-fold, and the overall total deficit of power required to allow for connection of new clients, with whom agreements have already been signed, has reached 16 MW.
“DTEK is a socially responsible company that cares about its clients and strives to improve the condition of power grids in the regions. Knowing the pain points of Kyivoblenergo’s clients in Obukhiv District, we are planning to build the Kozyn 110/35/10 kV substation with a cable power line 110 kV. These will allow Obukhiv to receive around 17-20 MW of electricity which in prospect can be utilized by dwellers of new developments. The Company is planning to build the substation within 2020-2021,” General Director of Kyivoblenergo Vitaliy Shaida tells.
The Company is also planning to tackle the voltage issue by retrofitting the Obukhiv substation with replacement of the 2 transformers 25 MVA each with more powerful ones 40 MVA each and by upgrading the Vasylkiv-Obukhiv 110 kV overhead power line to enhance its throughput capacity. These works will be performed in 2021-2022. They are being designed at the moment.
In May, 2019, Kyivoblenergo has been included to DTEK Power Holding. Within the first year of operation as a part of DTEK, the Company had managed to reduce the average fault rectification time by twice in Obukhiv the District – from 5 hours to 2.5 hours. It has become possible to reduce the power lines fault rates and improve the power supply quality thanks to an overhaul of the lines and power equipment. Besides, Kyivoblenergo’s employees have overhauled almost 83 km of overhead power lines, overhauled 42 transformer substations and distribution nodes, cleared 51 km of overhead power lines routes for the first half of 2020. As part of the repair program, it is planned to overhaul another 43.4 km of overhead power lines, repair 31 transformer stations and distribution nodes and clear 32.2 km of overhead power lines in the second half of 2020. Moreover, to enhance the power supply quality, in line with the 2020 investment program, by the end of the year in Obukhiv District it is planned to retrofit around 8 km of power grids and install six unloading substations along with one recloser which will make it possible to avoid disconnection of an entire line where a fault occurs, just an individual section of it.
