DTEK Dnipro Grids: Why do we need maintenance and how to learn about a power outage?

Residents of Dnipro and the region sometimes have no electricity at home or at work. DTEK Dnipro Grids explains why does the electricity go out, why do they carry out maintenance and how to prepare for them.

Networks are one of the most important components of infrastructure. The length of networks in Ukraine is 5 times longer than the length of roads. Power facilities need regular diagnostics and upgrade. To achieve this, the power workers do maintenances on a regular basis. This prevents possible malfunctions and ensures uninterrupted power supply to our customers.

To avoid equipment failures, DTEK Dnipro Grids identifies potential areas of concern and include them into the plan for replacement, repair and maintenance.

DTEK is a business that serves the interests of Ukraine and upgrades conservative energy area, making it more efficient. This year we are investing about UAH 1 billion in the repair and development of the energy infrastructure across Dnipropetrovsk Region. We need to turn off the power supply during repairs to ensure safety of our power workers. This is called "scheduled outage". The safety of people who repair equipment depends on this,” says Andrey Tereshchuk, DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO.

So that power supply interruptions do not come as a surprise, DTEK Dnipro Grids includes such work into the outage plan and notifies people about them.

You can learn about the planned power outages and check if your address is in the maintenance list by visiting the company's website, namely the Scheduled and Emergency Outages section. There is an interactive map works for convenience. This allows customers to prepare themselves and avoid the inconvenience caused by planned outages.

The schedule indicates the maximum shutdown period required for maintenance. Nevertheless, our crews try to get the job done as quickly as possible and reduce the discomfort for customers.

If the customer could not find his address in the list, then a blackout may have occurred. Customers can inform the company about it.

You can also learn about planned outages and report an accident using Telegram and Viber launched by DTEK Dnipro Grids.

It should be noted that DTEK Dnipro Grids continues to implement the European technology for carrying out maintenances without turning power off. Last year, more than 16,000 works were carried out using this technique with minimal disruption to our customers.
