DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids explains: Why do we need scheduled maintenances and how to find out about a power outage
Networks are one of the crucial elements of infrastructure. The length of the networks in Kyiv Region is more than 47,000 km. This is almost the same length as the national road network, which is 52,000 km. Energy facilities need day-to-day diagnostics and modernization. To this end, the company's workers consistently carry out scheduled maintenances to prevent possible failures and ensure uninterrupted power supply to customers.
To avoid equipment failures, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids workers identify potential problem areas and include them in the replacement, repair, and maintenance plan.
“DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests. We renew the networks and energy infrastructure of the region, so that every customer feels comfortable at their home and have electricity. This year, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will allocate more than UAH 700 million for the repair and development of energy infrastructure. This will allow repairing 3,826 kilometers of power transmission lines, 1,485 transformer stations of 10/0.4 kV and 204 substations of 35-110 kV. Thanks to these works, there will be fewer accidents, and consequently, customers will have less blackouts,” says Vitalii Shaida, CEO of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
The power supply is turned off during the maintenances to ensure safety of power engineers. This is called "scheduled outage". The company takes these safety measures for our workers, who do the hotline maintenance. Life and health of employees is the priority of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
So that power supply interruptions do not come as a surprise, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids includes such work in the outage plan and always post information on the company's website. You can find out about planned power outages and check your address in the list of scheduled maintenances in the section "Scheduled Outages". If the customer’s address is not in the list, then there might be a blackout occurred.
In addition, you can find out about planned outages and report an accident in a convenient way: through the mobile application "Merezhi Online" (the application is available in the AppStore and Google Play Market), chatbot in Viber and Telegram, or private messages via the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids Facebook page.
The schedule indicates the maximum outage time that is required to complete the maintenance. But the teams try to get the work done as soon as possible and minimize the discomfort for customers.
