DTEK Odesa Grids upgrades the network to ensure reliable power supply in Odesa

In 2021, DTEK Odesa Grids will earmark more than UAH 483 million to upgrade the Odesa electric network and support equipment. These funds will be used to reconstruct the existing and build new transformer substations, cable and overhead lines. The company aims to improve the quality and reliability of power supply for half a million customers.

During 2021, 59 km of new power lines will be laid within Odesa, 65 km will be repaired and almost 22 km of existing ones will be reconstructed. The company will also reconstruct 260 transformers and install 25 new unloading transformer substations. Workers will prune trees along 74 km of highways that run near the power lines. These measures will ensure reliable power supply to the company's customers in all areas of the city with a million-plus population.

DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests. The sustainable development of the region is a priority for the DTEK Odesa Grids investment policy. In 2021, the company will invest more than UAH 483 million in the development of Odesa energy infrastructure. We plan to complete the reconstruction of Krymskaya substation, which supplies the northern part of the city, and Chumka substation, which supplies electricity to the historical center of the city. Also, by the end of the year, we will complete the construction of the Ukraine’s first closed-type substation of 110/20 kV voltage level "Chubaevka", which will provide high-quality power supply to customers in the south of Odesa. Developed infrastructure and stable power supply are the key to the development of the entire city. We understand this, so we are consistently working to achieve this,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, CEO of DTEK Odesa Grids.

The company is working on the Smart Grid development to meet all the needs of a modern customer. The plans for 2021 include the introduction of SCADA (Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition), which is an automated dispatch control system. This system monitors the condition of the network in real time to be able to promptly address failures.

DTEK Odesa Grids strives to become a leader in customer focus. To this end, the company develops remote, including online, services so that each customer can safely use the services. Today, the company's customers can already receive 60% of the services online.

Between 2019 and 2020, the company installed 25 unloading substations in the city. The energy workers repaired 71 km, reconstructed 17 km and laid 96 km of new power networks. Besides, they installed 25 new transformers and repaired 254 existing ones. Over 2020, DTEK Odesa Grids cut trees along 72 km of the highways where power lines run.
