DTEK Dnipro Grids goes forward with the large-scale network reconstruction in Nikopol and the Nikopol district to ensure the reliable power supply in winter. The company has already replaced 37 km of lines and will replace about 12 km more by the beginning of winter. The energy workers also have replaced 19 transformers to increase capacity, installed 16 new unloading transformer substations, and planned to have 3 more transformer substations by the end of the month. This will provide a more stable and reliable power supply for about 3,000 customers during peak winter loads. Mayor Oleksandr Sayuk visited the reconstructed power facilities to make sure that the city is ready for the autumn and winter season. He noted that the networks are fully ready for increased loads.

“With the support of DTEK Dnipro Grids, we are planning to renew and reconstruct the Nikopol power grids, which guarantees the reliability of power supply in residential areas of the city during peak winter loads. This year we are strengthening the energy infrastructure around the Pivnichnuy, Lapinka, Novopavlovka settlements. These days, repairs are ongoing around Khlyastikova Street, which will also improve power supply for residents of Pershotravneva, Stalevarnaya, Kostromskaya Streets,” says the mayor of Nikopol Oleksandr Sayuk.

Residents of the district have been actively switching to electric heating in recent years, which has increased the power load on the network and had an impact on the voltage quality. For the electricity supply to be stable and of high quality, the DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists are re-equipping the electrical infrastructure in residential areas: they are updating the lines and replacing the equipment. They also modernize transformer substations, increasing their reliability and providing additional power reserves.

“DTEK makes every effort to keep every home warm and comfortable in winter. Therefore, we have started a large-scale network reconstruction in the Nikopol district, which will ensure reliable power supply, especially during the peak winter loads. Now we are busy with some extensive works: we are changing overhead lines and re-equipping substations. Such a comprehensive modernization will meet the growing needs of customers and provide them with a reliable and modern source of power supply in winter. To complete the upgrade as quickly as possible, we are involving teams from other divisions (Solyanoye, Tomakovka, Apostolovo, Kryvyi Rih district). We will finish all the work by the end of November, having invested about UAH 1.3 million,” says Ivan Zhuchkov, Chief Engineer for DTEK Dnipro Grids.

These days, in Nikopol, the replacement of poles and wires has been completed at substation 152 along Ryzhikova Street, substation 121 (Severny settlement), substation 23 (Pervomaiskaya, Cherepovetskaya, Lesya Ukrainka streets), which will provide a stable power supply for residents of these areas.

The reconstruction will also affect the neighboring Chervonogrigorivka, Pridneprovsky, Kapulivka, Borysivka and Vesely. The energy workers are also working in neighboring cities, carrying out the network reconstruction and modernization in Pokrov, Manganets and surrounding areas.

In total, the company is investing more than UAH 66 million to renew the Nikopol district energy infrastructure this year.

Works are carried out mainly between 8:30AM to 7:30PM. You can find out the schedule on the company's website.

DTEK Dnipro Grids encourages residents to be patient and understanding of planned outages during reconstruction. Temporary power outages are a must for such works, which in turn will prevent power cut offs in the winter.

As previously reported, in 2021 the company will invest more than UAH 1 billion in the region's electrical infrastructure. Within the Big Network Renovation program, a powerful 150 kV Grushevskaya substation is being reconstructed in the Nikopol district, which provides electricity to more than 35,000 residents of Manganets. As well as a cable line from the Stroymash substation and 9 large-scale distribution stations.
