By the end of the year, 249 kilometers of electric lines will be reconstructed in the Dnipropetrovsk Region

DTEK Dnipro Grids plans to complete the reconstruction of more than 249 kilometers of power lines by the end of the year. Thus, residents of the region will receive a reliable and present-day power supply. Investment incentive RAB tariffs introduced in 2021 ensured that there are funds for such technical upgrade. Thus, the company was in the position to increase its investment program in 2021 by 34% compared to 2020. DTEK Dnipro Grids uses these funds to upgrade and develop the energy infrastructure of the region being guided by the needs of the region and its people.

The reconstruction will touch on the medium and low voltage lines. That is, those lines that are directly supplying power to residents of the Dnipropetrovsk Region, enterprises, and organizations. Now the company has completely reconstructed 55 km of power lines, as well as 24 transformer and distribution points. In total, in 2021, DTEK Dnipro Grids plans to completely replace more than 249 kilometers of power transmission lines and 108 distribution points and transformer substations. For comparison, the company had the opportunity to upgrade only 71 distribution points in 2020.

Thanks to the transition to an investment stimulating RAB tariff it became possible to increase the amount of funds that the company invests in projects for the complete replacement of power equipment. Therefore, DTEK Dnipro Grids increased the investment program by 34% compared to 2020, i.e. from UAH 753 million to UAH 1 billion.

During the power lines reconstruction, DTEK Dnipro Grids fully replaces the electric wire. A cable line is replaced with a new and present-day cable of improved isolation and flow characteristics. This new cable will be laid underground instead of an old worn-out cable. If an overhead line is reconstructed, then new aerial bundled cables are being mounted and, if necessary, the power line poles are replaced.

Now the renovation work is still ongoing. When it is done, the company will restore the landscaping of the territories, where it was technologically required to dismantle the road surface, remove the lawns, etc.
