Additional power reserve: cable line supplying the city center to be renewed in Novomoskovsk
“This is a good example of interaction between city authorities and business to renew the city's electrical infrastructure. We are grateful to DTEK Dnipro Grids for undertaking this project. The total length of the updated line will be about 3.5 kilometers. This will create an additional power reserve in the central area of the city, improve the voltage quality, prevent faults and power interruptions,” said Sergei Reznik, the mayor of Novomoskovsk.
The power line runs from the Zoovettekhnikum substation to the distribution substation in the residential area and provides electricity to more than 3,800 consumers in the city center. The old line could no longer cope with the loads. So, with the support of the city authorities, it was decided to strengthen the line and provide residents with a more stable source of power.
“DTEK serves the Ukraine’s interests, takes care of its customers and systematically renews the energy infrastructure of the region. This year, almost 49 million hryvnias were allocated for renovation and modernization in Novomoskovsk. 6 million of these were earmarked to reconstruct the cable line in the city center. Instead of the old wire, we lay here a modern triple cross-linked polyethylene wire of a larger cross section and power. The renewed line will have a large carrying capacity, which means it will meet the growing demand of the district's residents for electricity,” says Nikolay Shumeiko, Head of DTEK Dnipro Grids Kamenskiy District.
The new line is laid parallel to the existing one, so that there will be no power interruptions during the renovation and no discomfort caused for residents.
The work is scheduled to be completed in March 2022.
In total, this year the company has invested more than UAH 1 billion in the development of the region's electrical infrastructure. Among the Big Network Renovation projects is the reconstruction of powerful substations in Novomoskovsk, Dnipro and Manganets. As well as the renovation of more than 249 kilometers of power lines and the re-equipment of 1,200 distribution centers and transformer substations.
