Reliable readings – accurate bills: DTEK Dnipro Grids explains why the company takes check readings
Most often, electricity meters are located inside the premises that belong to customers, such as apartments and detached houses. Less often, they are in public places: on staircases, street utility poles, etc. To take meter readings, DTEK Dnipro Grids needs to have an access to them. Usually there are no problems with outside metering devices. But if a meter is inside the apartment or house, there might be some challenges since the owners may not let the company's representatives to check them.
“DTEK strives to become the benchmark of customer focus and implements modern service standards. To make it convenient for customers to use our services, and ensure accurate bills, our specialists inspect the integrity of meters and take check readings. We need this to monitor the good working condition of a meter and avoid any misunderstandings with the customers. Thanks to this, we get a real picture of electricity consumption, and the customers have the correct numbers in their bills from the electricity supplier,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, General Director for DTEK Dnipro Grids.
The company encourages customers to allow specialists to check the meters that are in apartments, houses and within the territory of households. If this is not done, then, as a result, the customer may receive inaccurate bills from electricity suppliers. In addition, failure to let the company’s representative inside to check the meter is a violation of the Retail Electricity Market Rules. This may become the basis to stop electricity supply.
A DTEK specialist takes check meter readings only if he has a certificate of a company employee with him. At the first request, he must show it to the customer. The specialist inspects only the meter, and neither offers any other services, nor accepts payments from customers for the services rendered.
The specialist also examines the metering device. He verifies the number, checks the integrity of the case and seals.
