DTEK Dnipro Grids tested the reliability of power supply for the second time since the quarantine restrictions began for all 26 main and 3 backup hospitals, which provide treatment to COVID-19 patients in Dnipro and the region. It is vital to ensure that power supply to such facilities is stable and reliable.

DTEK is a reliable partner of our society. DTEK Dnipro Grids checks the power supply reliability to the hospitals for the second time since the quarantine restrictions began (the first check was in March and April). It is crucial to ensure that the hospitals have reliable power supply in the context of pandemic.

To date, DTEK Dnipro Grids additionally checked out the power supply systems in Dnipro hospital No.9. We fixed two damaged underground cable lines of 0.4 kV in City Clinical Hospital No.2 to ensure reliable power supply.

To date, the requirements for the power supply reliability are fully met in all 26 main hospitals of the region, which admit COVID-19 patients. The load of power transformers in transformer substations is less than 30% in most cases, and in certain cases the maximum load is 60%. Therefore, we are confident in the uninterrupted operation of these vital facilities,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, DTEK Dnipro Grids CEO.

In addition, the company has opened up opportunities to provide prompt service to medical facilities when increasing the power supply. For such cases, we have assigned a separate specialist, and his tasks include communication with medical facilities and their support at all stages.

It is worth noting that the power supply reliability to hospitals depends not only on the proper functioning of power networks, but also on compliance with the standard indicators of hospital networks by medical facilities. After the checks, we sent out notices to local public authorities and medical facilities about how to prepare for emergencies in the hospitals electric networks and bring them into compliance with the effective requirements of regulatory documents. Such interaction will ensure that the power supply to hospitals meets the required level of reliability.

A short video review of the work in Dnipro hospitals can be found here.

Earlier, DTEK Dnipro Grids representatives improved the power supply to Dnipro infectious diseases hospital No.21, which became the main hospital facility across the region for COVID patients. An additional 250-kVA transformer and accessories were installed here. This made it possible to eliminate interruptions in power supply and provide oxygen to serious COVID patients. In addition, we repaired cables and high-voltage lines in the Sinelnikovsk Central Hospital and the Hospital of the Ministry of Internal Affairs in Kryvyi Rih.
