DTEK Dnipro Grids to invest UAH 73 million in development of the Nikolol energy infrastructure

DTEK Dnipro Grids consistently upgrades the lines and power equipment in Nikopol. This year, 40 km of power grids will be repaired, four transformer substations will be upgraded, and 10 oil circuit breakers in distribution points will be replaced with more environmentally friendly and modern ones. The above will be done to improve the power supply quality, and reduce the risks of grids failures with increasing loads. These days, specialists have started laying a new cable line, which will provide reliable power supply to almost 5700 clients of the “1 Kvartal” and “Trubnik-2” residential areas.

Nikopol switched to decentralized heating four years ago. As a result, grids loads have significantly increased, and there is a need for their constant monitoring and system modernization.

DTEK serves the interests of Ukraine, ensures the reliability of power supply and the comfort of its customers. Since Nikolol is in transition to electric heating, DTEK Dnipro Grids have been systematically renovating the lines and energy infrastructure of the city for some years. The general investment volume for 2020 amounted to UAH 73 million”, says Andrii Tereschuk, DTEK Dnipro Grids Director General.

The company's specialists carry out most of the work in the summer prior to the heating season. Lines and equipment are being repaired, new transformer substations are being installed. In particular, the majority of works was carried out in Novopavlovka, Tretiy Sector and Lapinka Districts of Nikopol, which suffered from emergency shutdowns.

Now, we have started another crucial project, i.e. the cable line reconstruction within the “1 Kvartal” and “Trubnik-2” residential areas. Being laid partly underground, partly through the overpass of a local enterprise, it has been repeatedly attacked by vandals. In 2019 alone, there were six cases of cable theft, due to which residents of these Nikopol areas had no power. Now the 2-kilometer line will be underground. The budget of this project is almost UAH 11 million. It is planned to finish it by mid-November 2020.

All information about the time and duration of outages associated with the repairs can be found on the DTEK Dnipro Grids official website in the section "Scheduled and emergency outages". There is an interactive map and search by address for convenience. Therefore, customers have time to get ready and avoid inconveniences of planned outages.
