DTEK Dnipro Grids to Provide Stable Power Supply for COVID-19 Patients
DTEK is a reliable partner of the society. Uninterrupted power supply of health care hospitals is one of our priorities in the context of combating the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This is the second check that we initiated since the start of the pandemic to prevent power outages in medical facilities with intensive care. Our energy workers provided backup power supplies and completed the power lines and substations maintenance. Thermal imagers were used to detect faulty areas. Thanks to them, we could find overheating, eliminate deficiency in time and avoid problems in the power supply. Our energy workers checked the power grids that power all 44 hospitals in the Dnipropetrovsk region that treat COVID-19 patients,” says Andrey Tereshchuk, Head of DTEK Dnipro Grids.
The energy workers inspected the equipment and fixed the reserve transformer substation in the 21st city infectious diseases hospital, which is the main hospital for patients with COVID-19 in Dnipro. To ensure uninterrupted power supply, we have adjusted the automatic reserve input and power equipment in the substation of the Dnipropetrovsk multidisciplinary hospital for the psychiatric care. We also repaired and replaced power equipment in Kryvyi Rih city hospitals №2, 17, Sinelnikovskaya Central City Hospital and other medical facilities in the region.
As of December 1, 2021, the power grids managed by DTEK Dnipro Grids fully comply with the technical standards for the power supply quality. However, the uninterrupted power supply in medical facilities also depends on the in-hospital networks health. The heads of hospital facilities are required to check the in-hospital power grids and to promptly eliminate malfunctions, if any deviation is identified.
Also, DTEK Dnipro Grids adjusts the maintenance schedules in the areas where seriously ill patients, connected to oxygen, live.
“Scheduled maintenances are an important part of our work, which helps to improve the network condition and prevent emergency shutdowns. But we understand that for seriously ill people connected to medical equipment at home, a stable electricity supply is worth the weight of their lives. That is why we are temporarily changing our maintenance schedules at such addresses,” says Andrey Tereshchuk.
DTEK Dnipro Grids independently collects the addresses of patients who need an uninterrupted electricity supply. We invite hospitals, city and regional administrations, charitable and public organizations that have information about patients who are connected to oxygen at home for cooperation.
