DTEK Dnipro Grids got Dnipro and the region ready for heating season

DTEK Dnipro Grids got the power grids ready in cities and towns of the region to handle peak winter loads, having invested over UAH 130 million. To this end, the company overhauled electrical equipment at power facilities, replaced critically worn electrical cables and cleared green spaces under overhead power lines. These measures will help to reduce accidents and ensure uninterrupted power supply to residents' homes during cold weather.

The power grids preparation for the 2020/2021 heating season began in the spring, immediately after the previous one. Despite the quarantine, which made its changes to the repair plan, the DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists completed the entire planned scope of work.

DTEK serves the interests of Ukraine, ensures the reliability of power supply and the comfort of its customers. Routine repairs and accidents recovery did not break off even in a middle of a quarantine. We have already invested more than UAH 130 million in preparations for the autumn-winter season. In particular, the company replaced almost 413 kilometers of 0.4-10 kV medium voltage overhead lines. Their reliable operation is essential for the region residents to have light in their homes,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, DTEK Dnipro Grids Director General.

According to the company director, the DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists have also repaired almost 517 kilometers of 35-110 kV high-voltage lines, 335 distribution and transformer points. We also completed over 500 overhauls of underground cable networks, and cleared green spaces under more than 3 thousand kilometers of overhead power lines.

The reconstruction of the overhead line between the Nikopolsky-150 and Nikopol-Gorodskaya-35 substations, feeding city hospitals 1 and 4, maternity hospital and other important and commercial facilities in Nikopol is among the large-scale investment projects that have been completed this year. As well as the construction of a new, modern and reliable 6-kilometer underground cable line in Novomoskovsk, which will help to provide reliable power supply to residents of the city central part of in the winter season. Including the central city hospital, a children's clinic, 6 schools, 5 kindergartens, as well as shopping centers, gas stations and residential buildings.

In overall, DTEK Dnipro Grids is investing UAH 753 million in the region's energy infrastructure throughout 2020.
