DTEK Dnipro Grids posted 10 electric safety rules to follow near power equipment

In the conditions of war, DTEK Dnipro Grids specialists ask residents of the Dnipropetrovsk region to be extremely cautious. Do not start a fire, do not approach broken lines and power equipment, damaged by shelling. Do not interfere with operation of power installations and, in case of power outage, do not try to restore power supply by yourself. It can be fatal.

DTEK is a responsible business, partner of society and state. Since the beginning of war, DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers are working 24/7 in order to ensure stable operation of the energy infrastructure of the region.

The company asks residents of the region to be extremely careful and cautious. Not to interfere with operation of power equipment, refrain from starting a fire under power lines, not to approach potentially dangerous items. Besides health and life risks, such actions can cause large-scale fires, damage of grids and lead to power shutdowns of entire settlements and enterprises.

DTEK Dnipro Grids has drawn up 10 electric safety rules:

  • It is strictly forbidden to start fires, burn deadwood, leave flammable materials and put garbage near power lines and transformer substations;
  • Do not approach switchboards, transformers and other power equipment, and do not try to interfere with its operation;
  • In the event of discovery of a broken wire, stay 8-12 meters away and inform the company about it;
  • If you have already entered the hazardous zone near the broken wire, leave it without hurrying, keeping your feet close together. Move without taking your feet off the ground, half a foot at a time;
  • Be careful when driving a lorry, crane or lift truck that may approach the power line wires. If the transport becomes exposed to the electric current, you should get out of it carefully: do not hold the body or metallic parts and do not try to get on the ground with two feet at once. Then, leave the hazardous zone immediately;
  • Do not throw wires or other items on the overhead power lines, roofs of transformer substations and distribution points, do not fly kits near power lines;
  • Refrain from planting trees near overhead power lines and underneath them;
  • Do not climb roofs of buildings and structures with electrical wires laid nearby;
  • In the event of power outages, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in apartment or house, please, call electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street, please, inform DTEK Dnipro Grids in any convenient manner (chatbot, website, telephone, social networks);
  • Please inform the company immediately about events of fire near power lines or substations, broken wires, broken or open doors of transformer substations, and if you have noticed third parties trying to enter premises with electrical equipment. Please use website, Viber and Telegram chatbots, call the contact center +38 (056/066/067/063) 790-99-00, 0-800-301-497 or write to us on Facebook;

Please use official information channels only and stay calm. We are working 24/7 to ensure reliable power supply to houses and enterprise.
