DTEK Dnipro Grids to install 67,000 smart meters for free in 2021
DTEK strives to become the benchmark for customer focus and implements high-level service standards. Smart meters are the basis for modern energy infrastructure and building Smart Grid in Ukraine. Smart metering devices automatically transmit readings of consumed electricity, which saves the customer’s time. He or she does not need to submit this data additionally to the company through online services or a call center. Moreover, the new meters are dual, meaning that they have two indices for daytime and nighttime use. Therefore, the customer can enjoy the benefits of a night tariff, which can significantly reduce electricity costs*.
DTEK Dnipro Grids is one of the leaders in the installation of smart electricity meters among distribution system operators. Last year, residents of Dnipro and the region had almost 38,000 of such modern metering devices installed. This year, the company plans to double this number to accelerate the accounting systems automation.
“This year we plan to install 67,000 smart meters across Dnipropetrovsk Region. Therefore, we will install more than 35,000 pieces in Dnipro, almost 21,000 pieces in Kryvyi Rih, 2,000 pieces in Nikopol, 2,500 pieces in Pokrov and about a thousand pieces in Kamenskoye. Thanks to such automation, every 4th family in the region will get such modern devices,” says Andrii Tereshchuk, CEO of DTEK Dnipro Grids.
The company is installing smart meters as part of their investment program in residential buildings with worn out metering devices and low accuracy. Installation does not involve additional costs for the customer. To complete the installation work, you only need to allow DTEK Dnipro Grids workers inside (if the meter is in the apartment).
Before the replacement, the company notifies the residents about it in advance. Notifications are placed near the entrances to the buildings, where they indicate the date of work and the contact phone number of a responsible company representative. DTEK Dnipro Grids workers are doing this job dressed in branded overalls of gray-yellow color. At the request of the customer, electricians should present the appropriate certificates.
As previously reported, DTEK Dnipro Grids launched a chatbot for over a million customers in Telegram and Viber in February. The chatbot is available 24/7 and helps customers to get answers to frequently asked questions, report emergencies and receive notifications about power outages.
