DTEK Dnipro Grids handed over 35 kg of plastic for recycling
Withing the frameworks of the project “Precious Plastic”, the company actively implements principles of circular economy in cooperation with public organizations that produce various things from the secondary raw materials. These principles mean that materials and waste become raw materials again.
Over the first half of 2024, energy workers of DTEK Dnipro Grids sent 35 kg of plastic for recycling. By collecting certain types of raw materials, the company supports an international movement for greener and safer environment. Secondary plastic is a safe and aesthetic material, which can be used to produce a lot of things. Project’s partners produce various things from plastic caps and other types of plastic (PET bottles, packing), namely:
- chairs;
- benches, seesaws;
- accessories (trinkets, phone stands, safety hooks);
- board games;
- parts for electrical sockets;
- protection eye shields, etc.
“We consider it strategically important to support principles, enshrined in the UN Global Compact on environmental protection. Our activities within the framework of the project “Precious Plastic” not only help reduce the amount of waste, but also facilitates the development of sustainable public practices, as environmental awareness is a pledge of our common future,” –informed the company.
Over the course of four years of project “Precious Plastic”, energy workers collected and sent 251 kg of plastic for recycling. In 2024, a share of caps was handed over to volunteers to be used for drones for the Armed Forces of Ukraine.
