DTEK Donetsk Grids recalls 8 simple rules of electrical safety for children during summertime

DTEK Donetsk Grids draws parents' attention to the need to teach children about electrical safety rules. These rules are essential because they can save lives and health of children, especially now when they are on long summer vacations.

DTEK is a conscious, and reliable company that cares about the safety and comfort of its customers. As the summertime starts, DTEK Donetsk Grids reminds people that they need to talk to their kids about safety, especially how to handle electrical appliances, as well as about safety rules when around power facilities.

We deal with electric current every day in our lives. DTEK Donetsk Grids encourages parents to remind their children of safety rules. Always remember that current is a source of hazard. Please, be very careful with sockets, wires, and electrical appliances, as well as nearby power lines and other power facilities. Following these rules can save lives of both adults and children,” says Oleksii Degtiarev, CEO at DTEK Donetsk Grids.

DTEK Donetsk Grids believes that now it is high time to recall eight simple rules of electrical safety:

  1. Do not touch bare wires and cables.
  2. Always hold the plug when unplugging it. Never pull on the cord or take it with wet hands.
  3. Check if electrical appliances are unplugged before cleaning them.
  4. Keep away from distribution boards, transformers, and other energy objects. Usually they are marked with a special sign in the form of a triangle with a lightning bolt on a yellow background.
  5. Keep a safe distance from power lines. Do not play underneath them or climb poles.
  6. Do not touch trees if their branches are in contact with power lines. Do not pluck or rock the branches.
  7. Do not approach yourself and do not let others come close to broken wires closer than 8 meters. Immediately inform a power company about it.
  8. If you find yourself in an 8-meter step voltage zone near a broken wire, get out of there by moving your feet along the ground, while not lifting one from the other.

DTEK Donetsk Grids also reminds that if you see broken wires, damaged poles, open doors of electrical installations or no locks on transformer substations, please, inform the DTEK Donetsk Grids Contact Center at (0629) 450 473, (093/096/099) 4500473. Or you can inform the company through the chatbot on Viber or Telegram, or direct message on the DTEK Donetsk Grids in Facebook
