DTEK Donetsk Grids replaced the electricity meters in 584 apartments of Mariupol people. Smart meters are the basis for building Smart Grids in Ukraine. Customers do not have to pay for a meter that saves money and automatically submits consumption readings to the Distribution System Operator. The company urges the townspeople to let energy workers inside to do the job.

New day/night meters have already been installed for 584 families living at the following addresses: 108, 110, 112, 114, Pobedy Avenue, and 77, 79, Olympic Street. By the end of the year, 159 more residents of these houses will have such meters.

“DTEK invests in digital transformation, new technologies and innovations. Thanks to smart meters, people in Mariupol will receive a more convenient service. Customers could use a day or night rate, and the company can record their readings remotely. Now there are more than 46,000 smart meters in the region. By the end of 2021, their number will reach 47,000,” says Oleksii Degtyarev, Head of DTEK Donetsk Grids.

All smart meters are networked. The information received from them is accumulated and centrally processed. Today, mainly data on the electricity consumption volume is analyzed.

New meters are being installed in houses listed in the investment program. The list is formed at the beginning of the year and approved by NEURC, the national regulator. To do the installation work, customers need to let DTEK Donetsk Grids representatives inside (if the meter is in the apartment).

Before the replacement, the company notifies the residents in advance. Notices are posted in houses, indicating the date of work and the contact phone number of the person in charge from the company. DTEK Donetsk Grids people do this job, dressed in branded overalls of gray-yellow color with the company logo on it. At the request of a customer, electricians must show the appropriate certificates.
