DTEK Kyiv Region Grids is upgrading and expanding its fleet of specialized equipment. As part of the 2020 investment program, the company purchased four modern bucket trucks so that power engineers could eliminate all the power lines failures, and get the electricity back to customers more quickly. The trucks also emit CO2 into the air twice less than the previous type of vehicles.

DTEK is upgrading its technical infrastructure, and providing the company's employees with new vehicles for prompt maintenance and emergency recoveries. At the beginning of the year, the company purchased new equipment to do repairs and maintenance of overhead power lines. These are mobile and shunting bucket trucks manufactured by Italian company IVECO, and they will operate in 10 districts of Kyiv Region. And in the autumn, DTEK Kyiv Region Grids renewed its fleet of specialized equipment in four more districts, Kagarlytsky, Tarashchansky, Baryshivsky and Ivankivsky in particular.

"We are renewing our fleet not only to make the specialists work easier and better, and enhance customer service. The new vehicles will reduce environmental pollution. And this is the DTEK's contribution to the decorbanization of Ukraine’s energy, as we are preserving our environment and shaping an ecological future for new generations, - says Vitalii Shaida, Kyiv Region Grids CEO. - The new IVECO crane trucks consume less fuel than their predecessors (so called GAZ vehicles), and therefore less pollute the atmosphere with CO2 emissions. One vehicle travels 18,620 km a year, herewith GAZ emits 190 tons of CO2 into the air during this time, and IVECO emits 95 tons, which is almost twice less for the same distance.

The new crane trucks are more fuel-efficient. The new IVECO Daily 60C15D vehicle spends 16 liters of diesel fuel per 100 km, while GAZ-3307 uses 30 liters of gasoline for the same distance. And having the smaller size of the new equipment, it is more maneuverable, which is an advantage for areas with dense buildings. In addition, the new 18-meter hydraulic lifts have good technical characteristics: automation adjusts the lift in a minute and control it at a height. This affects the mobility of crews: it is more convenient for electricians to clear the lines of undergrowth and tree branches, to repair and maintain power lines faster. Accordingly, there are less emergency shutdowns for customers.

As previously reported, following the general meeting of the company’s shareholders, Kyivoblenergo, PJSC was renamed to DTEK Kyiv Region Grids, LLC. The renaming of the company is part of DTEK's plan to transform Kyivoblenerho into a modern service company.
