DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids to bring power back to customers faster thanks to new aerial platforms
DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids is implementing a program to upgrade road transport in accordance with the company's development plan until 2026. So, recently the regional divisions, which operate in the Buchansky and Fastovsky districts of the Kyiv region, received three new 18-meter aerial platforms. This is not the first purchase of such equipment. Over the past two years, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids have purchased 20 similar aerial platforms and a new 30-meter aerial platform is expected by the end of this year. In general, this approach allowed to renew the fleet of special equipment of the company in this segment by 15%. Until 2026, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids plans to purchase more than 100 aerial platforms, which will completely cover the company's need for such special equipment.
“DTEK is a reliable and conscious company. Adding new aerial platforms to the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids vehicle fleet is a guarantee of high-quality and fast line repair, as well as additional safety for an electrician who performs work at height. Aerial platforms are one of the most frequently used segments of special equipment for repair, since most of the 0.4-110 kV overhead power lines in the Kyiv region run at a height of more than 7 meters,” says Vitalii Shaida, General Director at DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
It became possible to add new vehicles to the fleet due to the incentive investments RAB-tariffs introduced in 2021. Thus, this year the company is investing UAH 725 million in the development of electrical infrastructure. That doubles the 2020 investment program. As a result, the customers of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will receive better and more reliable power supply, and the new equipment will help the company's specialists to fulfill their requests faster.
These new aerial platforms are ideal for working in dense residential areas due to their maneuverability and small dimensions, and the two-row cab with 7 seats is spacious enough to transport an emergency crew. The basket of the tower, in which the electrician works, is equipped with electrical insulation, equipment that signals the emergency condition of the cable, and other modern security systems. An electrician working at height can independently control the movement of the basket thanks to the control panel. The IVECO car itself has a rigid frame that provides the necessary rigidity when working at height.
In general, since the beginning of the year, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has added 32 specialized vehicles to the fleet, including brigade vehicles, an excavator, aerial platforms, drilling and crane machines and a mobile electrical laboratory. By 2026, the company plans to purchase 570 more units of specialized vehicles.
As previously reported, the new electrical laboratory to diagnose lines and substations will help DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids restore power to customers faster.
