DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reconstructs power lines to ensure reliable power supply to more than 82,000 customers
During the reconstruction, the Distribution System Operator installed new poles, and replaced bare wires with aerial bundled cables, which are safer. Such cables are weather-resistant and if they fall to the ground, the risk of short circuit and electric shock to people is minimal. Moreover, there will be no power outage if tree branches touch an aerial bundled cable.
“DTEK is a business that serves the Ukraine’s interests. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids is introducing new technologies to transform outdated power grids. We make them safer and more reliable. Today, thanks to the transition to stimulating tariff setting, we have more opportunities and funds to invest in the modernization of networks across Kyiv Region. For comparison, in 2020, the company's investment program, formed per the Cost+ method, amounted to UAH 343 million. In 2021, thanks to incentive tariff setting, it increased 1.8 times, i.e. up to UAH 618 million. By the end of the year we plan to reconstruct at least 16.8 km of 0.4 kV distribution networks and install 10 unloading transformers in Kyiv Region,” says Vitaliy Shaida, CEO of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
Also, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has employed a new, safer, and more reliable grounding scheme on the reconstructed cables, which ensures additional protection for people and electrical appliances in the event of a short circuit in the network. In addition, 3 new unloading transformers were installed, which will provide stable voltage to the company's customers in Vyshgorodskaya and Vasilkovskaya territorial communities.
As previously reported, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids switched to incentive tariff setting.
