DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists are concerned about bird safety. DTEK power engineers are installing special structures - bird stoppers on the power poles to save them from collisions with high-voltage lines. They impede landing and nesting of birds on power facilities. Thus, they protect birds and prevent the risk of short circuits and line breaks.

«DTEK is a reliable and responsible company. Installation of bird stoppers is in consistence with our obligations to protect the environment, which DTEK assumed under the UN Global Compact in 2007. Since the beginning of the year, the company’s specialists have already installed 237 special protective devices. Most of them are in Vyshgorodsky, Vasilkovsky and Belotserkovsky Districts. By the end of the year, the company’s specialists plan to install 434 such devices in addition,» says Vitaliy Shaida, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids CEO.

The company’s specialists consistently perform monitoring of power lines, and install bird protection devices. Over five years, the company’s specialists have installed more than 3.5 thousand bird stoppers. In addition, in 2020, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids joined the project on special structures installation for stork nests. About 40 platforms will be installed in Kyiv Region this fall.
