DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids halves the duration of outages in the Boryspil district

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has invested UAH 65 million in upgrading the networks across the Boryspil district in two years. As a result, the duration of power cuts lowered from 5-8 to 2-4 hours. The plans for 2022 are to invest another UAH 105.5 million in the development of the district's energy infrastructure. Vitalii Shayda, General Director of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids, told this during an online stream with the company's customers on Facebook within the #askAboutTheLight project.

"DTEK is a conscious and reliable company that serves the Ukraine’s interests. Kyiv Regional Grids invests in the renovation of Boryspil region's electric networks to ensure a stable energy supply for each customer and promote the economic and social development of the region,” says Vitalii Shaida, General Director of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.

In 2020, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids invested UAH 13.5 million in upgrading the Boryspil district networks. This year, thanks to the stimulating tariff, the amount of investment has increased to UAH 51.5 million, and in 2022 the company plans to invest another UAH 105.5 million in the energy infrastructure of Boryspil area. By the end of this year, the company will overhaul or reconstruct 550 km of power lines and 330 0.4-10 kV transformer substations.

Investments in the network have had a positive impact on the stability and quality of energy supply to customers. Thus, the duration of outages over the past two years has decreased from 5-8 to 2-4 hours per year, and the duration of power restoration has decreased from 5-4 to 1-2 hours per year per each customer of the company in the Boryspil district. Thanks to further investments in the network, the company's customers will get even better and more reliable energy supply.

At the same time, one of the main reasons for power outages for the company's customers in the Boryspil district is failures on subscriber equipment - networks or substations that do not belong to DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids. Thus, as of July 2021, the company owns only 40% of 0.4-10 kV transformer substations and 80% of 35 kV transformer substations.

"The law prohibits power engineers from interfering in the operation of subscriber equipment," says Vitalii Shayda, General Director of DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids. "At the same time, network owners do not always take care of maintenance and timely repair. Therefore, when failures occur in such networks, unfortunately, people can be left without electricity for an indefinite time. "

The first step to help improve the situation is to transfer the property to the company. To do this, you need to contact the DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids Customer Service Center and apply with a request to include the electrical equipment in the asset list. Then the owner will be sent a list of documents that must be provided for such a transfer. Another option is to enter into an agreement with the company to service subscriber networks.
