DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids has restored electricity to more than 390,000 residents of the region over the course of a month
In September, there were 511 power outages in the grid in the Kyiv region. Most often, they were caused by worsening of weather conditions that led to falling of trees on the power lines. Due to bad weather, DTEK energy workers had to eliminate about 350 emergencies. The rest were emergencies in the grid and damage of the subscriber equipment that was eliminated by the owners of this equipment.
“DTEK Grids is a support for cities and every Ukrainian. We maintain normal life of the residents of Ukraine. Thanks to the work of our employees, power has been restored to more than 390,000 company’s customers in the Kyiv region last month. Our specialists are working 24/7 to ensure stable operation of electrical infrastructure of the city and full scope of electricity supply to the capital,” – noted DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids.
Preparation of the grids for the autumn-winter period is ongoing in the Kyiv region. DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists perform scheduled maintenance of electrical equipment, replace obsolete worn components, clear power lines from green spaces and conduct prompt repairs to prevent accidents. As part of preparation of the Kyiv region for winter, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids will repair almost 700 kilometers of lines and upgrade 80 power facilities. Additionally, by the end of the year the company will clear 3,187 kilometers of overhead power lines from green spaces, thus ensuring that tree branches do not cause damage of power lines when they, for example, fall on the wires during bad weather. These activities will allow reinforcing the grids and, thus, reduce number of power outages that leave Ukrainians without electricity for an undefined period.
Let us remind that since the beginning of war, DTEK energy workers do not stop working in order to maintain stable operation of the grids. The company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region immediately after liberation from the occupants. Second stage of grids restoration – restoration of the backup power supply will require investing another UAH 600-700 mln in perspective of 2022-2023. It will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities.
The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it in accordance with the plan and needs of residents of the region.
