DTEK Kyiv Grids reduced the number of houses not subjected to power shutdowns during application of schedules by three times
Since October 2022, DTEK Kyiv Grids, in accordance with NPC Ukrenergo command, began applying schedules of power shutdowns. They were caused by the large-scale enemy attack on the power facilities of the country. Its application allowed to preserve integrity of the energy system.
“Since the very beginning of the forced application of power shutdown schedules, we faced a challenge. Multi-storied buildings on the same lines with hospitals, pump stations, military facilities were not disconnected from the grid. This raised logical questions from the Kyivans regarding the fairness of this situation. As of October 2022, there were 1,497 such residential buildings or 12% of the overall number. Since then, we did the work to reduce this number to 510 or 4%,” – commented DTEK Kyiv Grids CEO Denys Bondar.
The buildings that remain with electricity during application of hourly power limitation schedules currently lack technical capabilities for centralized shutdowns. Nevertheless, the company continues its joint work with local authorities to implement fair approach to application of stabilization shutdowns for these buildings too. In particular, representatives of managing companies are being engaged to personally shut down electricity in such buildings in accordance with the schedules.
The company underscores that the lists of critical infrastructure facilities that are not subjected to shutdowns are formed and approved by the Military and Civil Administration. DTEK Kyiv Grids only implements the decisions of local authorities.
Let us remind that stabilization shutdowns will be temporarily cancelled from 10:00 to 16:00 for schools and higher educational institutions of the capital, where NMT is being held, thus allowing future students to pass the tests without additional worries. Conditions of power supply for these institutions during other periods of the day will remain the same as for everyone else – in accordance with its schedules of power shutdowns.
