DTEK Kyiv Grids have already completed 381 repairs in order to prepare the capital’s grids for winter
Ukrainians have passed the most difficult autumn-winter period in the history of the country. Nevertheless, the upcoming winter of 2023-2024 will have just as many challenges. Therefore, DTEK Kyiv Grids energy workers are actively preparing the city’s electrical equipment. In particular, they have already repaired 376 middle- and low-level voltage transformer and distribution points and 5 high-voltage substations.
“DTEK Grids is a foundation and support for normal life of the country and our customers. Specialists of our company are now conducting repairs and maintenance of the city’s power equipment in order to ensure that people have electricity in winter. This year, we will conduct repairs at 12 large substations, 845 transformer and distribution points. These measures will allow to reduce the probability of emergencies on the grids and pass the heating season easier,” – noted DTEK Kyiv Grids General Director Denys Bondar.
Besides scheduled repairs, despite of the war, energy workers of the capital also take care of the development and modernization of the city’s energy system. In particular, they have already reconstructed 19 power facilities of various level of voltage. By the end of the year, a total number of upgraded facilities will reach 69.
The company also continues to replace residents’ old meters that are reaching end of service life. They are replaced with the new two-zone meters that help enjoy the benefits of a more favorable “night” tariff and submit electricity consumption readings automatically. In particular, energy workers have already installed more than 30,000 such meters out of more than 50,000 planned for this year.
DTEK Kyiv Grids also urges service companies to take a responsible attitude to the preparation of high-rise buildings for winter. They are the ones taking care of and responsible for condition of intra-house networks. Before the beginning of the autumn-winter period, housing offices, condominiums and managing companies should inspect their equipment, conduct required maintenance and eliminate any malfunctions in order to ensure reliable power supply of buildings.
