“According to experts, this heating season will be one of the toughest in the past 30 years. DTEK Odesa Grids is a responsible business, partner of society and state. Therefore, we make every effort to ensure stable power supply for our customers, especially during the cold period. Today, we install a repaired transformer at one of the city’s boiler houses that powers 350 residential buildings, 13 schools, 9 pre-school and 5 medical institutions in one of the Odesa districts. Overall, the company has already completed 23 upgrades at 18 facilities. By the end of the year, it will repair 16 more 6-10 kV cable lines that power 21 boiler houses and heat points of the city,” – informed DTEK Odesa Grids Press Office.

Distribution System Operator, just like other utility services, in close cooperation with municipal authorities is doing everything necessary to prepare Odesa for the difficult heating season.

“We made sure to inspect all facilities of the thermal energy industry. One of the scheduled inspections discovered that one of four transformers that powers one of the boiler houses of the city was out of order. This could cause a shutdown of the boiler and mains pump, thus reducing quality of heat supply. DTEK Odesa Grids has promptly repaired the transformer, ensuring reliable heat supply for the residents of Odesa during the heating season,” – underscored head of the fuel and energy complex division of the urban economics department of the Odesa City Council Oleksandra Bazarenko.

DTEK Odesa Grids consistently implements a program of scheduled repairs to improve reliability of the grids and prepare the city and the region for the autumn-winter period. In order to provide residents of Odesa with uninterrupted power supply, by the end of the year Distribution System Operator will inspect 597 transformer substations of various voltage categories and 12 distribution points, repair 41 lines, powering schools and kindergartens of the city, repair 1,050 km of the overhead lines, inspect 146 critical infrastructure facilities (hospitals, schools, kindergartens, thermal power facilities and housing and communal services facilities) to ensure its reliable power supply and normal operation despite the situation in the country.

It is a large piece of work for the DTEK energy workers and contribution to stable 2022-2023 autumn-winter period.
