DTEK Odesa Grids has started construction of a cable line that will connect the new Chubaevka substation to the network
The company will use a special method and first create an initial hole in the soil to build the line using special purpose equipment for horizontal and inclined drilling. This technology allows to lay underground cables in urban conditions without destroying the road surface. The new cable line will be 4.5 kilometers long. It will provide a reliable power supply to customers because it will be protected against weather. Cross-linked polyethylene insulation withstands higher temperatures compared to obsolete paper cables, making networks more reliable. As the line is underground, it will not take up additional space on the Odesa streets.
“DTEK is a reliable and conscious company. We at DTEK Odesa Grids set the prime goal to provide the residents of the city and the region with an uninterrupted power supply to ensure that they have lights on and comfort in their homes. To do this, we upgrade equipment, build modern substations and cable lines. In 2021, the company will invest UAH 888.8 million in the development of networks in Odesa and the Odesa region. This is 86% more than last year. The networks will finally be upgraded, we’ve been waiting for such modernization for many years. In the complex, the new Chumka-Chubaevka cable line, the reconstructed Chumka substation and the Chubaevka substation built will provide more than 50,000 Odesa families and social facilities with a reliable electricity supply,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, Director General at DTEK Odesa Grids.
