DTEK Odesa Grids is reconstructing the distribution center that feeds the central streets in Odesa

DTEK Odesa Grids is reconstructing equipment in the Sadovy distribution center. They are doing this to ensure that there will be no power interruptions for customers during scheduled maintenances or failures in the future. Thanks to the work completed, the company will be able to quickly switch 4,791 customers living in Dvoryanskaya, Pastera, Olgievskaya, Nezhinskaya streets and others to backup power supplies.

The Sadovy distribution center supplies power to customers in Preobrazhenskaya, Pastera, Dvoryanskaya, Torgovaya, Soborna Square, Sadovaya, Koblevskaya, Novoselskaya, Nezhinskaya, Konnaya, Elizavetinskaya streets and Malanov Lane. For the distribution center equipment to work stably and provide 4,791 residents of these streets with a stable power supply, power engineers will completely reconstruct it. They have already replaced the equipment of the first tires section and mounted the second tires section.

Moreover, the company will install a new microprocessor-based relay protection and automation system in the distribution center. In the future, the company could fully automate this distribution center, and, hence, they will respond faster to power cuts.

“DTEK is a responsible and reliable company. We take care of customers and comprehensively improve the city's energy infrastructure. In 2021, the company invested UAH 888.8 million in the development of the Odesa and regional network. This is 86% more than last year. Investment in Ukraine’s power grids has increased significantly thanks to investment incentive RAB tariffs, a new approach to electricity distribution tariff setting adopted in Ukraine in 2021. Thanks to this, the company has the opportunity to update the power grid, prevent power cuts, and connect new customers,” says Oleksandr Fomenko, Head of DTEK Odesa Grids.

The reconstruction will last until the end of 2021. The company has invested over UAH 3.5 million in this work.

In addition, the company is laying two new cable lines from the CHPP substation to the Sadovy distribution center, six kilometers long, considering that the load might be higher in the central part of the city in the future. The cable lines are laid with XLPE insulation, which is environmentally friendly and will provide a better and more reliable power supply for customers.
