DTEK restored electricity to 100 settlements in the Kyiv region, left without it due to the storm

The storm that passed through the large part of the country on July 6 (heavy rain and wind gusts up to 20 m/s) caused damage to the grids and massive emergencies in the Kyiv region. Since yesterday, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists are working in the enhanced operating mode to restore power to customers as soon as possible.

As of the morning, power was already restored to 39 settlements, left completely without electricity, and 61 settlements, partially de-energized due to the storm. 45 6-10 kV overhead lines and 1,094 transformer substations were repaired.

“DTEK is a reliable and responsible company that cares about its customers. Company’s specialists continue to eliminate consequences of the storm. They put maximum effort to promptly restore electricity to the customers. Most of the outages now remain in Makariv energy unit. Crews are working to restore power,” – informed the company.

Worsening of weather conditions in the Kyiv region on July 6 left 52 settlements completely without electricity and 91 — partially. 68 overhead lines and 1,619 transformer substations were damaged. Currently, 13 settlements remain completely without electricity and 30 — partially. The storm left 20 power lines of 6-10 kV completely without electricity and 3 — partially, as well as 525 transformers substations.

In order to promptly eliminate emergencies on the grid, caused by the storm, and restore electricity to residents of the Kyiv region, DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids emergency crews were transferred to the enhanced operating mode.

DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids reminds of the following safety rules:

  • avoid staying near power lines during strong wind;
  • if you discover broken lines, please stay 8-12 meters away, never touch bare wire and inform the company immediately;
  • in case of blackouts, do not try to perform repair by yourself. If a blackout happened in an apartment or house – call an electrician, servicing your house. If there is a blackout at the entire street – contact DTEK Kyiv Regional Grids specialists;
