DTEK in Kyiv Region to install smart meters for clients free of charge

Thermal power generation14 August 2020
By the end of 2020, specialists of Kyivoblenergo will replace electricity meters for free for more than 5.7 thousand clients. They will be provided with new, modern meters that help saving money instead of old ones. Electric engineers kindly ask the clients to allow the employees into their homes for execution of installation work and explain how to make sure their visitor is actually an employee of DTEK.

In Ukraine, household clients have an opportunity of benefiting from the two-zone tariff for the electricity. According to it, the daytime (7 am to 11 pm) price for kilowatts is as follows: up to 100 kWh — 0.9 UAH/kWh, and beyond 100 kWh — 1.68 UAH/kWh; while at night (11 pm to 7 am) the tariff is twice as low: up to 100 kWh — 0.45 UAH/kWh, and beyond 100 kWh — 0.84 UAH/kWh.

«Being a responsible and reliable company, DTEK realizes the clients’ needs. We are investing UAH 7.2M into the replacement of 5.7 thousand meters with smart ones that will allow our clients to save their money. In general, almost 127 thousand devices like those are already in operation in the Region,» General Director of Kyivoblenergo Vitaliy Shaida noted.

The new meters are to be installed in houses covered by the investment program. The program has been formed on the beginning of the year and approved by the national regulator — NERC. To facilitate execution of wiring work, clients ought to allow the Kyivoblenergo’s specialists into their homes (in case the meter is inside the flat). The work is done by employees wearing brand clothing of green or grey-and-yellow color with the Company’s name. The electricians must produce relevant IDs upon a client’s demand.

All the electricity meters planned for free-of-charge installation will allow to benefit from the night (twice cheaper) tariff, should the clients desire that. For that, one ought to apply for the respective adjustment of their meter once it has been installed.

Nowadays and till the end of August, installation of smart meters will go on in Boryspil, Brovary, Vyshhorod, Vasylkiv and Irpin Districts.
