DTEK restores electricity: power was restored to almost 100,000 families in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions over a week
Over the past week (July 11 through 17), DTEK emergency and restoration crews have restored electricity to more than 93,000 families in 144 settlements, left without power due to shelling in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions.
The grids infrastructure in the Donetsk region is being shelled more often. Every day, despite shelling and increasingly active hostilities, energy workers restore operation of the grids and restore electricity to customers’ homes. The most difficult situation is in the direction of Sloviansk, Avdiivka, Marinka, Toretsk and Bakhmut.
Over the past week, DTEK electricians have restored electricity to more than 88,000 residents of the region in 120 settlements of Bakhmut, Kramatorsk and Pokrovsk districts. Many homes require restoration of electricity almost every day due to massive artillery shelling and air strikes.
Dnipropetrovsk region also suffers from frequent shelling and destruction of electrical infrastructure. Energy workers had to restore operation of the grids in Nikopol district of the region five times last week. Overall, over the course of a week energy workers have restored electricity to 4,500 families in 20 settlements of the Dnipropetrovsk region.
DTEK energy workers are working non-stop for 143 days in a row and together with all other services are doing everything within their power to provide electricity to the homes of our customers.
Let us note that in May energy workers have completed restoration of power supply to the residents of districts in the Kyiv region that suffered from occupation. Preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region as soon as possible. Second stage of the grids restoration is ahead. A large scope of work is related to restoration of the backup power supply that will help ensure reliable power supply to towns and villages, similar to the one prior to hostilities. In perspective of 2022-2023, it requires investing another UAH 600-700 mln. The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
