DTEK restores electricity: over the course of a week, energy workers have repaired the grids for almost 100,000 homes in Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions
Over the course of a week, energy workers have restored electricity to 98,000 homes in 131 settlements of Donetsk and Dnipropetrovsk regions. Since the beginning of a full-scale war at the territory of Ukraine, energy workers have restored electricity to a total of over 3 mln homes. 2 mln –in the Donetsk region, almost 600,000 – in the Kyiv region, 270,000 – in Kyiv, almost 27,000 – in Odessa region and 40,000 – in Dnipropetrovsk region.
Every day, artillery and air bombing damages infrastructure of the grids in the Donetsk region. DTEK together with all other services is doing everything possible to restore electricity to the homes of region’s residents. About 20 DTEK crews are working every day to ensure stable power supply.
Despite the difficult situation related to hostilities in the region, DTEK energy workers have repaired the grids, damaged by shelling, and restored electricity to more than 96,000 families of the region last week. In some settlements, energy workers have to repair infrastructure of the grids, destroyed by enemy missiles, every day.
Frequent shelling continues in Kryvyi Rih district of the Dnipropetrovsk region. In particular, DTEK repairmen managed to restore electricity to more than 2,000 homes last week. Due to frequent shelling, some homes required restoration of electricity several times a week.
For 136 days, DTEK electricians together with doctors, volunteers, suppliers of essential food and medicine are doing everything within their power to support Ukraine and Ukrainians in these difficult circumstances
Energy workers in the Kyiv region plan to restore normal power supply to the districts that suffered from hostilities. Preliminary estimates show that restoration of the grids in the Kyiv region to the pre-war level of power supply quality and reliability will require investing about 1 billion hryvnas.
Of which the company has already invested over 300 million hryvnas in restoration of electricity to residents of the Kyiv region as soon as possible. Restoration of backup power supply, which will help ensure reliable power supply of towns and villages, will require investing another UAH 600-700 mln in perspective of 2022-2023. The company needs aid from government and international partners in the amount of about 1 billion hryvnas in order to fully restore infrastructure of the grids and develop it as per the plan and needs of residents of the region.
