DTEK has already restored electricity to 79,000 homes, de-energized due to bad weather in the Dnipropetrovsk region
On July 27-28, gusty winds, storm front and lightning with heavy rain caused widespread power outages in the Dnipropetrovsk region. The city of Dnipro, as well as Dnipro, Pavlohrad and Novomoskovsk districts were the most affected by bad weather.
A reinforced team of DTEK Dnipro Grids energy workers continues to eliminate consequences of bad weather. 120 crews of specialists were engaged in these works. Emergency repairs on lines and equipment are conducted immediately upon detection of new outages during the storm. The work is complicated by a large number of broken wires due to the fallen trees and corresponding blocking of access to the sites of emergencies.
Overnight, DTEK energy workers managed to restore electricity to 19,000 families. Another 60,000 families have been reconnected over the course of the day. That makes 79,000 homes overall.
All damaged high-voltage lines are now repaired. Repair of medium voltage lines (6-10 kV) is ongoing. Work on the 0.4 kV lines as per the specific customer requests will follow.
As of 16:00 on July 28, 46 lines remain completely or partially damaged, as well as 455 transformer substations. 44 settlements in the rural area are completely de-energized, 28 – partially. Another 16,000 customers are without electricity. Energy workers plan to complete restoration activities on the 6-10 kV lines by the end of the day today, providing weather conditions do not worsen.
